Privacy Statement: Bayside Bushwalkng Club

In the following statement, the Bayside Bushwalking Club is referred to as the "BBC". This privacy statement describes how the BBC collects information about its members and those on its mailing list (referred to as "Members"), how we use personal information, who it is disclosed to and how Members can access the information we collect.

What personal information do we collect?
The BBC collects personal information about Members which includes members’:
  • Name and address
  • Date joined the Club
  • Age
  • Phone number(s) and e-mail address
  • Occupation
  • Emergency Contact name and phone number
  • Bushwalking related qualifications held, other outdoor club memberships and bushwalking experience
  • Concession card held.
How do we collect personal information?
Information is generally collected directly from members by way of membership application and renewal forms and walk sign-on sheets.

What do we use personal information for?
Information is used for:
  • Maintenance of the membership register as required by the Associations Incorporation Act.
  • Communication with members
  • Ensuring a safe walking environment through the use of emergency contacts
  • Seeking members with appropriate skills for the running of the club.
Who do we disclose personal information to?
Information as required is provided to members of the club who provide the services listed in the uses above.

Names and phone numbers for walks leaders and emergency contacts (and addresses for emergency contacts) are included in the walks program which is distributed to members monthly and to prospective members with the Club’s information package.

Names for walks leaders are provided on the Club’s website.

Members representing the Club at other organisations may have their communications details provided to those organisations.

How do Members notify us of any corrections to personal information?
Members can use the membership application or renewal forms to advise of changes to their personal information, or can contact an officer of the Club. Members can access their information by contacting an Officer of the Club personally or via the Club’s mailing, email or web site addresses.
